Welcome to the Woking Mountaineering Club!
If you're looking for people to climb with, then the Woking
Mountaineering Club could be for you.
Mountaineering involves many forms of
climbing - from traditional and sport rock climbing to scrambling,
to front-pointing up a frozen waterfall - and at the Woking
Mountaineering Club, we practice them all.
Whether it's a day of
climbing single-pitch routes at a sunny crag or tackling snow and ice
routes in Scotland or the alps, the Woking Mountaineering Club is
out there, doing it all. With regular meets every fortnight throughout
the year, we cater for all abilities, ages and styles of climbing.
Visit our Gallery, or look at the 2009 calendar to find out more
information, or click on the Contacts icon.
We are a friendly and
enthusiastic group of climbers. The WMC is frequently away throughout the
year enjoying our sport. We are sociable too and most weeks we can
be found discussing important club matters at our regular venue, the pub
- Sands at bleak House, located just outside Woking.

Club Activities
Climbing Meets
The Woking Mountaineering Club has a year-round
programme of evening, day, weekend and holiday meets. In summer, the club has a minimum of fortnightly
weekend meets, including bank Holiday meets, ranging from the Most south
westerly parts of Cornwall to the north West Coast of Scotland. We also
run two beginners trips each year, to Bowles rocks in Kent, and The peak
District. We have a large pool of spare equipment, so you can try it,
and see if you like it.
Although we are not strictly a teaching club, we
are able to offer advice to less experienced members of the club.
Whilst the focus of most club meets is
climbing and mountaineeri ng, other groups of members arrange walking and
biking activities. In the winter, the club meets are a minimum of
monthly, and tend to be focused on winter mountaineering. This year, so
far we have gone to Scotland, the French Alps, and North Wales.
Social
Activities
The club offers a range of social activities
throughout the year. The Club meets every Tuesday at the Sands pub,
Chertsey Road, Woking, Surrey, GU21 5NL where members can
plan trips, and generally talk climbing!
